potatoes and onions...

I was making something for dinner many years ago, and my kids were demanding to know what was for dinner. I finally yelled, "Glop! And you'll eat it or go hungry!" Well, they loved it, and now regularly request glop for dinner. It's simple: Cut up an onion or two, dice 3-4 potatoes, add a pound of hamburger, and fry in a frying pan. When everything is done (hamburger is done about the same time as potatoes, conveniently), you add some gravy to pull it all together. Extremely simple, cheap, and reasonably good for you!

Taste is learned, so we encourage our kids to try new things.

They're required to eat at least one bite of everything. They can stop at that if they can manage a polite "no thank you". As they get older, we ramp up the serving sizes. No problems, usually. Also, desert is throttled by the amount of other stuff eaten.

So far, so good.
