SheriM - Too Stubborn to Stop Dreamin' - SURPRISE!!!

Ever have to make one of those decisions that just about tears your guts out, even though you know it's the right choice? I sold my favorite Nubian doe today. She went to a good home where she won't have to compete with a bunch of Boers with horns, where she'll be pampered the way I would like to pamper her but just can't. And tomorrow, when I go out to the barn and don't see her head pop over the wall between the loose housing and the nursery, it will break my heart. I raised Hopi from day one on a bottle and she was one of the sweetest, gentlest goats I've ever met...which means she always had a hard time in my herd of largely rough and tumble Boers. But still, I wonder...will she miss me?

Probably not. Not when she's got lots of good grub, another doe from my herd to hang out with and no one to push her around anymore.

SheriM,
I know it's hard to give up a beloved pet. You should be able to take comfort in the fact that you know she will be well cared for and loved. :hugs

Thanks, Punkin. I do take comfort in that. It WAS the right decision, but hard nonetheless. I also take comfort in the fact that I can go visit her. The new owner only lives about an hour and half away.

Sheri, it sounds like you made the right decision...you put her first and did what is going to be best for her. Still hard I know...:hugs

I'm beat, but the garden is in. A friend and her husband came over today and helped us get it all planted. Corn, peas, carrots, beans, tomatoes, radishes, two kinds of lettuce, watermellon, cantelope, broccoli, califlower and potatoes...not a huge amount of any of them, but a good variety.

I also love the cheeriness of flowers, so I planted a bunch of different kinds in all sorts of pots and have them arranged around the back door on stumps. I decided to put them all on stumps to keep them away from prying paws (the dogs dug up several petunias last year!) and because I really don't have a clue what I'm doing so if the plants need more or less sun than where I've put them, I can move them around till I figure out what works where.

Sheri, a decision such as that involving a beloved pet is always hard but I think you should proud you put her first. :hugs

I love gardening, nothing better than watching things grow and then being able to harvest the veggies.

Sheri :hugs Giving up any pet is hard...bit like you said..she will be well taken care of...and im so glad you were thinking of her first. Thats hard to do! Sometimes we let feeling for a pet get in the way of a good decision...you were not clouded...congrats!
Great to hear you got your garden in. It IS a satisfying thing...to know all that work is done, and soon there will be a great harvest!
Enjoy!!

Thanks. I'm really looking foward to all those fresh veggies. Heck, I could probably swipe a little romaine lettuce already! :)
