SheriM - Too Stubborn to Stop Dreamin' - SURPRISE!!!

Wonderful idea, except the hay is all in large round bales. Small squares are nearly impossible to find around here...especially this year.
We have the same problem as you... our floors are FREEZING, and with holes in the stone foundation big enough to stick your arm through the crawl space is also freezing.

What we did was buy sheets of 4'x8', 2 inch thick insulation (I think it's called extruded polystyrene?) and cut it to fit between all the joists. It's still cold, but now we can at least get the house warm. Before we insulated, if the wind blew hard the kitchen cupboards would fly open from all the drafts :)

Things are going really well around here at the moment. Firstly, it's warmed up finally. Now, that's a relative thing, of course. It's now about -10 C, which probably seems horribly cold to some of you, but for us, that's normal for winter and it beats the heck out of -40!

Secondly...I got the PICC line out! What a relief it was, too. It was totally painless, which is a far cry from the nightmare of putting it in. It's still really itchy around where the line was inserted, but that will improve now too, since I don't have a bandage on there anymore. The irritation was me reacting to the adhesive in the bandages.

Thirdly, and probably most important for me, harmony has returned to Mountainport Farms. After 3 weeks of escorting Fynnigan outside to do his business, we finally let him and Smiley interact loose in the yard. As I had hoped (and prayed desperately for) it was a total non-issue. Fynn really didn't want to go anywhere near Smiley, and I can't say I blame him. Smiley respected that and didn't do more than sniff the air as Fynn went by. Fynn and Harry, the younger male LGD played hard for quite a while and you could just tell Fynn was having a ball getting rid of all that pent up energy. It's hard for a high energy breed like an Aussie to be confined to the house all the time.

I don't think I'll be letting Fynn out by himself yet, but at least now he can come out and play with Harry when I'm doing chores.

Good! I'm so glad they're getting along, but don't turn your back on them just yet. My two are still growling at each other through the fence.

So good to hear that you got rid of the PICC line. I know it was a blessing and a curse all wrapped up in one. I can't imagine it being -40. If it gets down to the teens its really crazy here so -40 is just unfathomable! How are all the critters handling the cold weather?

10 below is still cold. I don't care how you slice it. You are one tough lady Sheri. I am glad to hear Flynn is healling well and they are getting along. Like Lori says be careful with those two.

Glad to hear the pic is out. Must be good to get rid of it. Take care of yourself and stay warm.

I am such a wimp, I was so worried about getting that PICC line out, but really, I didn't even know she was removing it, she talked to me and the next thing I knew it was out! No feeling or sensation about it, but you're right, Sheri, it did itch a bit as it healed. I'm happy you're rid of it, I hope you never have to have another one! :hugs

To those who mentioned it, trust me, the boys won't be left unsupervised for a long time yet. In fact, I had DH come out with me and do some of the chores that take me out of sight so I could supervise the dogs and that will continue for a while.
