Thrift stores are a disappointment here also if you NEED something. It is likely to be priced higher than new. I bought a vest there last year, on sale for half off, to celebrate getting a job, but nothing else I've seen has been worth buying as far as clothes are concerned.

I do like to go in and dig around tho. You never know, and often I find stuff useful to me for very good prices. I jus can't go in with an agenda.

Pricing is crazy. I needed some storage bowls and found a nice set of enamel bowls that can go from stovetop to freezer and for storage for $1.99. I found another set I liked better, same number of pieces, comparable condition, just a hair bigger ... for $10. At the same store.

Prices do vary wildly, and much of it costs more than Wal-Mart charges for new. But I can usually find some little tidbit for 50 cents to $2 that is worthwhile. :)

I do like garage sales and church rummage sales better, but I rarely seem to catch those. Maybe once or twice a year.
