Looking at the long range forecast and it looks amazing!

Think I'll try to tap the maple trees tomorrow!

Anyone else making syrup this year? I love having a sugar source from my property. I only have between 5-10 trees but if the weather cooperates we can get quite a bit of syrup produced!

This year we'd like to build a little evaporator as our boiling efforts didn't go that well last year. I'll be spending this afternoon deciding on a design, though I've been looking at ideas all winter.

Got most of the trees tapped on Saturday (6) Have 2 or 3 more to do.

We didn't get out to collect today though! So I'll try to get out in the morning, once it's not too cold. I know you're not supposed to leave sap in the buckets, but sometimes that's the way it is. We won't gift anything from the first batch :)

Evaporator is coming along nicely, DH put it together so a big thank you there. Probably try it out on Tuesday!

We tapped at our friends house down the road. Going to tap at my parents tomorrow :) we have a bunch of line run too this year. DH is doing the hauling, or I wouldn't be able to do it with baby!
