TEA Anyone?

This is why. There will be people there to try to incite, to try to tarnish the movement with violence. We need to resist those taunts. We need to stand strong against the forces that are trying to pull our great country into socialism. We need the strength of the American people to tell Washington enough, we're not going down the road they are paving. The America I grew up in is the one I want to leave to my children and my grandchildren, they deserve no less.

I went to the Tea Party in Montpelier today. It was wonderful!The Tea Party lasted from 12 noon until 2 PM. This is a tough time during he week to get people out at a rally because they are working. I was pleased at the turn out. We are a small state (population wise) and this states residents are normally liberal in their votes. I was plesantly surprised to find that there were around 400 or so people that showed up for the party with their signs, their children and grandchildren in tow and their love of their country but not the politicians, which was obvious from their conversations.

As I expected, the 2 local networks gave the Tea Party the "bums rush" on the evening news. One network gave the party a 90 second slot and did talk to several of the ralliers. They, however showed a view of the crowd that I knew had been taken well before the Tea Party had started. I got there 1/2 hour before the start of the event and the crowd then was much larger than the crowd shown. All the other shots were tight shots, that to me, seemed to deliberately avoid showing how many people really attended. The other network gave the Tea Party a 20 second cursory mention with no video.

The people were very civil and attentive to the speakers. They all seemed to have issues with the votes that have been cast by our legislators. The general consensus was that we needed to actively persue the removal of our current Senators and Congress man in their next elections. We need to keep after the state legislators to stop their rampant spending and waste, as well. This was a very diverse crowd with the ages rangeing from 6 months to 75 or so years. There were quite a few teen agers with their parents. This was a great civics lesson for them! There were mothers, shop owners, employees and small business owners, farmers, retirees and more. It was great!!!!

Interesting that was the only think you could pick out of VT-Chicklit's otherwise well-reported post.

I couldn't go to the TEA party in Boston, I had to work, but I watched the coverage on Fox, it was very inspirational. I hope the movement can maintain momentum and grow.

Very interesting. My understanding was that this one crossed many lines. I thought I had heard there was a lot of diversity since most people do not like massive tax $ spent...

Fresno was huge, 7500, the speakers were good and patriotic, the people were of all ages, and colors, very representative of the general population!

The one here in Denver looked like some kind of anti-Obama protest. Lots of people talking about how this terrible national debt was going to be passed onto our children yet, no word on the LAST president who actually ran up the debt instead of the guy who's been president for about a minute and has to get us out of it. I'm clueless as to why this protest wasn't done about two or three years ago.

People on the right were upset, but still held some hope that their party was actually working for them. Now they know better
