The gas question?? Read into the crystalball!! HAHAHA!!

I have quietly mentioned a couple times to my coworkers that if it gets too high we might have to carpool. I'm actually not kidding, whether they realize it or not. There is no point for us living barely 5 minutes apart to NOT carpool together. We should probably be doing it now, but nobody does.
It has hit about 3.50 now, and last week I did manage to fill up when it was still 3.37, the next day I looked and it was 3.45! YIKES!

We'll see what happens...

yup im seeing 3.35-3.60ish a gal around here depending on where ya go...
and even the big financial folks are saying "theres no reason for it" but again, people buy it because what choice do they have...gotta work, gotta eat...gotta pay those bills...
Me...i can choose to leave my house ony a couple of times a month if i had to...
Others simply dont have that luxury.

It comes out to about $4.10 per U.S. gallon where I live, right now... and that's the best price (Federated Co-op). More expensive from other gas stations.

It's been up closer to $5.00 - a few years ago, when it last peaked. The up-side part of that is that it ended the trend toward people buying silly fuel-guzzling V-8 vehicles like Hummers. And most of the N. American manufacturers really began to follow the lead of the Japanese auto makers, who'd been building and selling fuel-efficient cars & trucks since the early 1970s.

i belive we will see a major war in the middle east within the next 3 months ushering in not only 5-6 dollar gasoline economic chaos and if the war gets out of hand WW3

Any particular countries you foresee as being involved in the beginning of this war?

Saw an article in a mainstream news source (USAToday?) earlier this week forecasting a $4.15/g national average (roughly 60c per gallon increase from the price that day) by Memorial Day, so there IS a bit of chatter about it. The undercurrent of commentary referencing that article was basically that if the energy commodities (crude through distillates) get run up like spring '08, then the expected results will be the same as well.

I figure the MSM prediction was a combo warning/trial balloon ... so I'd recommend arranging those carpools now.

yikes $4.15 will shut me down pretty much in traveling. whew

I chatted with hubby and told him if it gets much higher we are truly shutting down unnecessary travel. I guess the house/landscape/barns will get a great cleaning and good work done at home :)

This is when I am so glad I have a pool. literally in summer the kids play all day swimming, I relax on the deck etc and we just chill and enjoy (without spending any more money)

I mean at some point the wallet closes. mine is almost shutting down as tight as a clam :P

yup at 4.15 a gal that would be me chaing my twice a month longer distance trips to once a month tops...
looks like in going to need to serioulsy consider the horse option since i cant afford a motorcycle and i wouldnt want to hit highway 45 on a scooter.

At times like this, I'd like to have an old beater truck that I could convert to run on horse poop. After all, I have an unending supply of that!

Deb, if you ever figure that out, you've got to share how you did it!
Maybe then that deuce and a half I saw for trade on CL would be useful!! :gig
