The Homesteader's Way of Feeding Chickens

I buy whole oats from the feed store and sprout those. Barley, too, when I can get it. If it is for feed then you know it hasn't been treated with a fungicide like seed grain will likely be treated.

Sadly our feed store does not have whole grains, just the pellets and conventional feeds.

Free, I know your the nutrition guru. How do you feed your flock?

My feed store doesn't stock it either, but I'm wondering if they can order it.

Im not even sure if TSC has it. I know they have rolled oats, not sure about whole oats or whole wheat. :hu

That is some pretty good info!! Wannabefree, what else are you doing for your flock to feed them?

Right now, nothing actually. The last few weeks have been absolutely nuts with niece in the hospital and the new unexpected four legged addition back into the family, ANd installation of the new wood stove....I have not had time to do much. I am starting all my sprouting/fermenting projects THIS weekend!! I was supposed to start about a week and a half ago. Sometimes life gets just too darn busy. I like things laid back and simple  Next week HAS TO slow down!
