yesterday i was able to get the last part of the long garden along the pathway outside the fence finished weeding some purslane. i took 6 buckets of it out of an area less than 10ftx10ft and it was just getting ready to drop millions of seeds.

a bit ago i was reading up on it and found out those seeds can last longer than 40yrs... i'm not sure where all the seeds for these plants came from but i did redo that area (still am working on it eventually yet some more) and disturbed the soil so easily could have just been there. scraped it twice earlier in the season and then ignored it for a month and it all grew very fast with this heat and sunshine.

the hot water heater replacement works, but the faucets are not putting out very cold water. we've not had this sort of problem before (almost 30yrs) and it's not isolated to one faucet so there's something odd going on... normally the cold water is very very cold so it's really different to me and i hate drinking tepid water. in a few weeks we start processing tomatoes and i really use that cold water during that process. i do have the plumbers coming back out to check it out and see what's up.

i really would like a week or two where nothing breaks or i don't have to have someone over to fix something.

at least i did find the missing poison ivy i knew was in some cedar trees along the south edge and i noticed another sprout coming up in another spot but i can get to that easy enough as i can see it right there... easier than having to work through flowering bushes or the trees to get at it. i found a few other sprouts too of poison ivy. it's been coming up in a lot of places this year for some reason. birdies spreading the seeds around.

You know -- purslane is a good edible plant. Highest of all plants for omega3. Good protein. Slight lemony taste, good tossed into a green salad.
Chickens love it.....if you ever get any

haha, yes, i know it is edible and have eaten some of it in the past and could eat it again if needed. the problem is that it doesn't taste like chocolate. i do like it ok, just i like dill, fresh beans, peppers, onions and garlic a lot more and, ahem, chocolate...
