yes, and i should have called him back in August when the hot water heater blew out and the whole system seemed out of whack. so we did spend more $ on electricity than we really needed... my fault.
true, i'm pretty sure he gave us a break because i did refer some friends to his business plus we wandered around and looked at gardens and had a good chat about gardens plus i gave him some Beaver Dam peppers to take with him.

mowed today, got it done. Mom picked what was left of the tomatoes to give to to someone else who's been enjoying them.
tomorrow i will be picking some beans and if i'm lucky i can get some shelled out.
the weather forecast remains hot for tomorrow and the next day with chances of rain starting for Monday night (and cooler).

picked some dry beans (and some not so dry but they got picked anyways) yesterday and am sorely tempted to shell them because of hints of what i'm seeing and also because i need to get some flats combined to give me more room for more flats.
it was warm enough to chase me inside after a few hours and then sidetracked by other projects and then fell asleep early so up early...

got a few hours of gardening before the too hot came along - not much of a breeze. since i've picked most of the beans in some gardens i can get them put up for winter.
one of the larger gardens is being invaded by a quick growing grass that drops seeds fast, sometimes i can find it in the middle of winter or early spring with seeds on it. this round of growth is just starting to put seed heads on so i better get it out of there (for the bits that don't have seeds on them i bury them deeply enough they won't regrow - the weed bucket gets the seedy bits). i don't know how it got in the garden to begin with (i blame it on the rabbits). today i did about 1/3 of the garden and picked dry beans too while i was at it.
the mostly clay soil is pretty hard for scraping but i can at least get the grasses scraped down and removed and buried and weeding the rest of it is pretty easy since i've kept up with most of it otherwise.

yes, and maybe i can get the rest of it done today if i get out there about an hour earlier... we'll see...
the remaining part left doesn't have nearly as much grass in it for me to scrape but it will be 2/3rds more area and a longer trench to dig and then fill back in.whatever i don't get done today will go on the first things list for tomorrow.

i did get out early and got the trench dug before it got too hot and then i came in for a short break and managed to fall asleep for a few minutes which i wasn't expecting... then got back out and finished that garden up so i can get on to the next one tomorrow.
no more grass or weeds showing in that garden. i hope it won't be able to come back up from any tiny roots that didn't get scraped but until we get some rain that soil is too hard to get a deeper scrape done on it. it won't take too long to do now that nothing else is growing in there and i don't have to work around any bean plants.
