as i was shelling out some Purple Dove beans last night (after doing a different box of mixed beans with much tougher pods to shell) i was thinking i should try to make a short video of that since they are so easy to do in comparison - except i don't have a stand or tri-pod for the camera and not really any other easy way to do it and i wasn't in the mood for fiddling around that late either. so you just have to imagine some long, thin and papery pods that have a degree of shatter trait in them so that if you just squeeze them a little bit and the pods almost spring wide open and most of the beans just fall out. :)

this morning's adventure in bean sorting and shelling was an unlucky bounce when the bean i was looking at was dropped and managed to bounce off the flat and into the bag of shelled out pods and rejects.

it was one of about a dozen beans that i was interested in so i shook the bag to get the bean down towards the bottom and then emptied it gradually while still shaking to get the bean at the bottom with all the rest and then dumped those out in a tray to find the specific bean i was after again.

it wasn't too bad to do and took less than 10 minutes, but funny to me how sometimes you get these lucky bounces that end up in places you'd not expect. :)

to celebrate snow on the ground this morning i was playing Christmas music. it makes Mom laugh. :) i shovelled for a few minutes (just because some fresh air and exercise would be nice and it was). the sun is out and the sky is blue. sparkles on snow, but the snow will soon be melted off at this rate.

i did take pictures. will post some eventually, but not likely today or any time soon. i'm in the middle of changing things a bit so i don't want to mess that up until i'm further along.

i could get outside for some dirt therapy today for a while and start in on getting the tomato garden cleaned up. tomorrow will be even nicer weather (warmer and not so windy) that i hope to be able to finish it - that would be nice. :)

Saturday the forecast is for rains and into the low 60sF so i'm not sure i'll be able to get outside then...

tomato garden mostly done other than filling in the trench all the way, but i have a neighboring garden with some weeds in it that i can use that same trench so leaving it open for now until i get to that one - possibly will be able to get it done tomorrow.

seeing plenty of worms in this garden so i'm always happy when that happens, it's got more organic matter than some of the others and also some more sand and i think it also helped that we left a lot of tomatoes to fall and be worm food near the surface so that would have kept them more active and closer to the nummies. :) now that the weeds and tomato plants are gone and it is all put in the trench i expect the worms to migrate towards that direction when they hear all their pals munching (i'm pretty sure they can detect vibrations :) so perhaps they do have parties? :) )...

i suspect i'll sleep rather well tonight (and maybe sooner rather than later...)... .. .

Yay! A bit more work and you'll have it all taken care of.

well, err, ... :)

the small garden i need to weed is the least effort thing i'll need to do, after that i have several projects that i'd like to do that probably won't get done but we'll see what happens. they are old gardens with rocks that need to be redone because so many weeds are growing in them that it takes me a lot of time to weed and take care of them for what they are. there's two or three of those in that fenced garden area, plus another patch of lavender that should be removed and a whole other thyme garden that is being overrun by grasses and wild strawberries and ... there's really an endless amount of work i can do here. i just have to pick the things that i can do and hope somehow i can get to the rest sometime before armageddon... oh and the onion patch which isn't in too bad of shape but can use some weeding... :)
