Pam, did you know you can make your own hamburger helper mix? My family loves it, & it is sooooo much cheaper than buying it in the store & less garbage in it too.
I would love to know how!! All I really need is the seasoning mixes! We also have lots of noodles on hand in the house and the meat/tuna. We started making our own taco rice meal based off the HH meal.
I will get my recipe out & post it tomorrow for you, busy day today around here. I post it in the kitchen section.

So when does this challenge end.. Im just begining.. And I know I cant beat people who already have so much.. But I can still try.

If you do vote.. You should do one catagory as who has the most impressive SS stocking up. And one as, who made the most improvement.. For us beginners.. And people who have limited income to do the SS stuff we need to do..

I might want to do this challenge..

I wanna play!! :ya
We are getting 100 Colored Rangers soon! We should have over a years worth of chicken in the freezer!! I will take pics when we get them!

Boy I have to get busy to catch up with SK but I will try my best!!

This is going to be fun to see everyone's progress and ideas!! :pop

I'm behind all of you. We will probably start putting shelves up in our 2nd house and use it as a storehouse. Just a bunch of canned stuff down the stairs to the side right now.

Sunny, check out the "skills" contest, too. It is especially for you!
Thanks freemotion I will check it out. I am doing lots of new things lately.. No pictures yet.. But right now I am incubating eggs for the second time.. First time failed in my home made incubator.. So I bought a real one.. Im on day 2..

I would say that the contest should end around Thanksgiving. By that time, if you haven't got it in the jar, smokehouse, wood shed, freezer, or barn.....well, you probably won't need it! ;)

Then....at Thanksgiving, we can give thanks for all the blessings we have received that allowed us to squirrel away foods and fuels.

Sound good to you folks?? :D

Oh! And, Sunny? Don't worry so much about the winning of it....you win anyway if you have managed to save yourself some money, become more prepared, learned a new skill, etc. We can, and will, all be winners by Thanksgiving! Remember...its the journey...not the destination!

Sounds good to me. It will be interesting to see what I can grow and store between now and then

I have lots to do between now and Thanksgiving.. I have many things planned.. I know this is done to be fun.. But at the same time to get you motivated with the challenge.

I dont think I should plant any thing until the end of this month.. Still a bit cold right now.. And last year all the plants I started indoors died or didnt grow well. I even tried to adjust them to the outdoors, and it didnt work.

If I can store more than I did last year, which wasnt much.. Then I will consider my self a winner. We are all winners and I understand if there is a vote it is just all good fun.. We are all winners if we learn new skills or teach others the skills that we know.

Well I have to go see what seeds I need to get..

Anybody else up for a little challenge? Maybe we can even have Nifty, Ann, and KStaven vote on the final results? ;)

How bout it, folks? :D
Guess you don't want the competition from an innocent mod like myself with a tiny garden patch. :D
