TTs Chicks Pics and Ramblings

I don't know - the ship date on the label was the 15th (Wednesday) - do you think it was because they hadn't been fed yet? How many days can they go after hatch before they have to have food & water ?

Usually 3 days is not a problem.

I would wonder if they were set in a place that contained carbon monoxide or other poison gas. Perhaps the transport truck had an exhaust leak??

I am sure the hatchery will replace the order but still a hard pill to swallow. :(

That's sad about the chicks.

Great about the fencing though. Free is good. What's a little work to straighten it out.

Old cars do tend to have all sorts of trouble, but I think it is good way to go for a teen. Of course it is extra nice that you have people who know about cars and can help you keep it running.

Farmfresh - I hadn't thought about that . . .

FarmerD - yep his car is a work in progress, if we didn't have folks to help we'd sure be up the creek ;) it's good cause he's learning how to work on it and he'll be more in tune with what it should run/sound like.

whew . . . I'm hot and tired . . . been out cutting weeds outta the fence they were taller than me . . . and cleanin yards . . . now I'm sittin in the A/C coolin off

Oh, those poor chicks!! What a terrible loss. :(
Congrats on the fence tho....what a great find!

That's awful about your chicks. Hopefully they will replace them.

Got an email first thing this morning - they are replacing my order this week :woot - should be here between Wed and Fri. :fl hopefully whatever happended to the last chicks won't happen to these.

we had a similar issue back in june. we had ordered chicks from SpringHill because they work with older breeds and such. Got the call at like 7 that morning and went down to pick them up. Out of 27 chicks only 6(i think?) were even alive and one died later that day. Couple more died the next day. Pretty sure what happened is it was hot where they got picked up at and apparantly sometimes people go "oh its so hot out! these babies will die from over heating! lets put them in front of the ac! :barnie :he :rant :somad :tongue this kills them!!! they need the heat to live!

sorry about your loss! :hugs

That's good to hear that they are replacing the chicks.

How is untangling the fence going? (having my own recycled pile of wire fence behind the barn waiting for me to untangle and store)
