TTs Chicks Pics and Ramblings

Didn't work on it yesterday - worked inside washed clothes, made some jelly, caught the stove on fire . . well tried to anyway the jelly started to boil over and I picked it up off the burner but not quick enough so I had jelly burnt on the stove, spilled on the floor, my foot, the counter, etc . . . spent a good long time scrubbing the stove. It is a glass top stove :( And of course it hadn't cooked long enough so it didn gel :barnie

awww, sorry the jelly didn't work out. I used to make jam when I was in highschool, I think i'd like to give it a try again :)

did you burn your foot?

wanna compare burns ? *holds up hand*

we had a similar issue back in june. we had ordered chicks from SpringHill because they work with older breeds and such. Got the call at like 7 that morning and went down to pick them up. Out of 27 chicks only 6(i think?) were even alive and one died later that day. Couple more died the next day. Pretty sure what happened is it was hot where they got picked up at and apparantly sometimes people go "oh its so hot out! these babies will die from over heating! lets put them in front of the ac! :barnie :he :rant :somad :tongue this kills them!!! they need the heat to live!

sorry about your loss! :hugs
I had a postal employee call me 5 times in about 6 hours (while I was away at work) the last time I had chicks arrive. Her messages were all about how the chicks were "peeping so loud they must be starving!"

When I picked them up I asked for her by name and thanked her for her concern. Then I took a few minutes to open the box with her still there and teach her about chicks. I told her how they were fine without food and water for several days, but they needed the heat. The louder they peep the colder they probably are. She admitted to trying to keep them cool and reflected that if she had only known she could have kept them on the dock where it was warmer. Maybe next time she will be able to better care for a chick order.

Post office called before I left for work this morning - ran into to town and picked up a box of peeps :D All 30 of them were alive and peeping loudly, no extras in the box - got them home and set up then left to come to work :( Tried to talk myself into staying at home, but I came on in.
