The weather is still beautiful here I don't have to run a/c or heat and that makes me super happy when the light bill comes in.

Meaties are growing well, I've lost 3 of the original 30, one was kinda puny looking, one got squished right after we started getting the cool weather and not sure about the 3rd. They seem alot more active than the last ones I raised there is a roost board in the back of their pen and they are actually getting up on it!

I bred both of my original NZ does a week apart so hopefully the next 2 weeks I'll have 2 litters of rabbits.

Still not sure on my geese, but I really think I have 2 ganders which means 1 is gonna have to go. All 3 of my ducks are laying and I finally got a goose egg this week - It was huge

I'm baking a cake - from scratch , for my youngest DS. He turned 6 on Wednesday and we are having his party tomorrow.

well . . . so far no new bunnies so I guess I'll try the white doe again this weekend - the black one should be due on Monday

I found this cross bred doe on CL today - supposed to be already bred - for $50 . . . what do ya'll think - breed guess is she worth the price

Hey TT,

Did you do anything with the goat on CL? I haven't been around goats for 20 years so I'm not an expert on goats. The only things I would check out would be that lump on her right thigh. I would also check out her udder as it looks from the picture that her teats are really uneven. Might be a hassle to milk...

Is feed a concern? If not, $50 seems like a good price and you could always get her and then see what her baby is.

I agree about that lump - looks like a caseous lymphadenitis abscess.
Depending on her production, when she starts lactating her udder might even out and fill up, but it looks very poorly attached.

Poor thing looks very thin and wormy too.

As far as breed, I would say Saanen and Nubian mix.

Thanks guys, I decided she was probably not the best choice for my first goat.

We worked around yesterday and finished up some small projects. Got a roost in my small pen, restrawed all the nest boxes, got post holes dug and some posts up for my grapevines, put the last light post in the ground for dh's shed. Today we aren't doing much gonna go to fils later and walk youngest ds around to trick or treat. Happy Halloween everyone.

The search for a couple of dariy goats is still on - mostly what I'm coming across are boer crosses or folks with fancy papered goats who want way more than I can spend for my 1st foray into milking goats

I did get some muscovies yesterday - found the ad on CL, turned out to be teacher at my kids school! I think it's 3 drakes and 1 duck which is not quite what I wanted, but . . . I got scovies will get pics soon, it's dark now when I get home, so I pretty much settled them in temporary digs and left them alone.
