Walking this morning… Pictures of Ireland

Those dramatic skies and green, green fields remind me of WV and VA....very beautiful, Sumi! Thanks for posting pics of a place I'll never get to visit but have always wanted to.

Love the pics! I'm Irish so I wanna visit some day!

Sumi, those pictures make me want to travel outside the US.

I am Scotch-Irish. My maiden name is Shortridge.

I didn't take much pics lately, mostly because I left my phone home and have been walking the same roads I already photographed

I tried to get a pic of the castle just outside the village, but my phone lost focus when I tried to zoom in. I'm going to have to figure out when there's no-one staying in it (they rent it out for week-long and weekends) and sneak in there ;)

WOW How old is the castle Sumi? I can't really tell, but has part of the castle fallen? If so, where do people stay?

I would love to hear the stories about the place.

This castle is about 500 years old if I remember correctly. The building they went and plonked right up against it is on the site where the rest of the castle used to be. That part fell down years ago. This castle has a wonderfully grim history. Some years ago they beheaded some unfortunate soul and displayed his head on one of the castle walls  I try (and fail) not to think of that whenever I look at the ruin! lol

The one outside the village is in great condition, fully restored and modernised. That one was a rich man's fancy country house. Pretty little thing. All yours for €1200 a night.

Fascinating! That is $1537.08 in American money. You would make a good history teacher.
