Here's my list of items. Of course, having only these 10 would not be enough, but they would be a good start.

1. Manual well pump/water filter
2 Wood stove
2. Heirloom seeds/garden established
3. Reference library
4. Manual tools - gardening/carpentry/wood harvesting tools
5. Chickens and/or rabbits and/or goats
6. Manual food processing/canning equipment
7. First aid supplies
8. Knife & tool sharpening equipment
9. Communications
10. Firearms and ammunition

Of course, that leaves off just a few essentials.

1. COFFEE!
2. A bazillion rolls of toilet paper
3. COFFEE!
4. More toilet paper
5. You get the idea...

Geesh I think I have done good for a city girl. I have almost all of the items listed. I need to save money to buy a grain mill. But thats for everyday life as well.

I think the only thing I really want is my 40 acers in Mo.

:p

What are ten things you would want to have with you when the SHTF? This is hard, so I'll focus on just things (and people, lol) not more major structures. For example, it is a given that the house must have a wood stove, and land that will support a garden and animals. Also, access to a water source, preferably where we could get seafood.

1. Friends and family, preferably as many as possible to discourage looting/etc, though I know this might not be possible
2. Seeds
3. Goats
4. Chickens
5. How-to books OR experienced people
6. A loom (hopefully also a book telling me how to use one... haven't had time to take a class yet, but it's on my list!)
7. Treadle sewing machine
8. Tools
9. My grandma's wood burning oven
10. Honey bees, not only for honey, but for wax as well.

Oh boy, I could go on... I have none of these things right now. Working on moving closer to family, though!

1) Well trained stout horses (I have the skills to train but at least one ready)
2) Tack, harness, carts and farm implements for horse drawn power
3) hand tools of all sorts including the tools to sharpen and maintain them
4) books on old farming ways, making tools and horse drawn power
5) land with clean water source above it and a set up gravity feed system with enough drop for pressure
6)Seeds
7)Chickens
8)Home that can be wood heated and ventilation cooled
9) big cold storage or root cellar
10) milk and meat cattle or goats

Hopefully all this located in an area that is co operative, like a family unit or a tight small community where barter will be the norm.

I guess when you say "have with you" you mean I won't be at home where I have most everything I need.

So if thats the case I only want a couple of things with me.

1. Transportation to get to my house.
The other 9 things are enough guns and ammo to fight my way home.
