WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Ended up getting a bit over 22 lbs of sweets. Didn't love them all - they were HUGE. I dug through and picked the smallest ones I could find, but I would classify even the smaller ones as pretty darn big. Cashier asked me if I was making a bunch of sweet potato pies - I said yep - 35 people coming for dinner and I'm making 10 pies, lol. (not true)

Also picked up 5 sweet red peppers for .87c apiece. Cheaper than the other store. First time in a long time that I've come out of a grocery store spending less than $9.00. The sweets were less than 5 bucks!

Told my hubs about your price and how I wanted to fly out there with an empty suitcase....he chuckled.
Come on down, lol. Actually found them for less at another store - but it's too far away for the drive to be cost effective.

About to put the first batch in the canner!

Just reminds me of the time I flew from Pasco to Virginia with 90 pounds of potatoes in a seabag.

Yes it was back in the 90s when bag weight limits were a lot higher.

I think the wife figured out why the Presto electric canner won't seal. The metal wheel spoke thing holding the gasket in place is problematic, according to what her internet sleuthing found. New one ordered.

But, the new propane burner is here, too

I have to check into the warranty on mine because the nonstick coating inside the pot is all bubbly and rough up to where the water line goes. Above that is fine.

I will now start keeping an eye on my metal wheel spoke part.
