Removed done figs...put in 5 more trays. Got a call that I could come for more she'd picked. Set for Monday. :drool :celebrate. Bumper crop this year & so sweet!

I'm thinking I might throw a few slices of eggplant in. Never tried but, thinking to partially dry and then freeze 🤔. It's such a wet veg and I use slices for eggplant Parm. Anyone ever try this dry partway first?
I haven't done the eggplant, will await the results of your experiment

To be honest, I like my onion frozen better than dehydrated. The dehydrator can be made into a powder that works. Just personal taste. 😁 Same with green peppers.

Other things -- basil, oregano, mint, etc -- dehydrate!

Do you know what variety of comfrey you have? I have bocking 14...sterile seed but root propagation. My chickens and goats love the stuff. I've had to hot wire them out to get it growing well again!

I've been drying a few BIG leaves. Gonna make my first batch of comfrey salve in a week or two -- just personal use. But, I may like it enough to make & sell. Not a huge market that I've been exposed to here BUT might be out there🤣👍 There are a few small shops that deal with such things, as well as ingredients for making cheeses, wine, candles, natural/organic things. 🤷

Have considered going back into goat soap making, again. Elderberry products, etc. Just a little here & there $. ☺️

Wondering how many beans you need to plant to get 20-40 lb? I like the idea and think I have the garden space…I’m dehydrating more Comfrey today because I sold out on Comfrey Salve again!

it really is going to depend upon a lot of factors that i cannot easily answer. how good your soil and climate are like, what the water situation is like, what kinds of dry beans you want to grow (some are easier than others, some are bigger than others, etc.). pretty much also depends upon how many fresh beans you might eat from them if they are a mixed purpose bean and if there are a lot of bean predators around. i think i've lost about half of my crop this year. :( so i'll be lucky to even hit 10-15lbs if this season continues how it is already going.

I'm thinking these limas. I like dried limas to cook and a neighbor had these, which I saw way back then...thought very pretty.

I don't think they retain color cooked 🤷. He said taste was excellent.

some people don't like lima beans. i love about every dried bean i've ever tasted.

once you start collecting beans it can be rather wild and crazy. :) i have hundreds of varieties and selections here and have gotten rid of many more by now (because who really wants hundreds of different brown beans?)...
