What did you do in your garden today?

plant some new seeds if you have room for them

Definitely going to plant the seeds I have left but was originally planning on doing it more toward the end of summer. Actually, I guess I can plant the seeds I have left now and use the seeds I'm saving from this crop for hopefully a later summer planting. That should work out.

I don't really have time to do pruning either, lol. But, I wanted to try this so I made myself start on it this morning. I only did one of the two rows - so far. May or may not do more...

Aha! So. It's the tilled field that's the excitement....🤗. Was that once grassy like the playground? Mine was and I just can't get it "out" of there! Very discouraging. 😬
There is more space on the other side of the woods. It's free space, so I will see what happens. My first act will be to run a stiff rake through it, but it looked fairly clean

Going to try and transplant some wild strawberries

I mean they look correct right. I googled and looked in my foraging book, mock strawberries have yellow flowers. I couldn't find anything on poisonous look alikes.

we got the potatoes out and sowed okra and pole beans in their place.

there are volunteer tomatoes, melos and dill popping up all over the place. im gonna let it all go and see what we get
I also got volunteer tomatoes that popped up in with the onions and cabbages. Hard to pull them, so I left them in place.

Jesus is Lord and Christ 🙏❤️🇺🇸

I managed to get some wild strawberries over 25 years ago. I moved them a couple of times over the years. They are still growing. When they do fruit the strawberries aren't even as big as the end of my little finger and the ones I have are very sour.

we have plenty of wild strawberries here, they will take over if allowed. while the small berries may be hard to pick and gone before you know it the flavor is good to me, i don't mind if they're tart as you can always add sugar to taste. they bloom and bear fruit here a few weeks before the larger varieties we grow. i don't normally even pick them though as i'm usually just too busy with other things.

yesterday i was able to get some weeding done and will be doing more of that today. sun is out and it is cool so it will be an afternoon job. :)
