What did you do in your garden today?

Hey lovely people, my hub was asking me if a can plant pickles. I told him the pickles are processed cucumbers. Am I right?

Yes. What everyone things of as pickles are just cucumbers that have been pickled. Some varieties are better than others for it.

You can pickle just about anything. Pickled asparagus and dilly beans are also very good.

X2

But some kinds of cucumbers are way more suited for pickles than others.

Or maybe it is just because I like my pickles to look a particular way... because yes, you CAN pickle anything... but I like my pickles made from short fat bumpy cucumbers. :idunno

Salsa on the horizon....

Plan is for first green bean picking Saturday. Flower are abundantly heavy and the green beans decided to set, now we are past 8 heat warnings.

My experience: Blue lakes are temperamental* Green Beans should not be this difficult**.

*Temperamental adj. - Likely to perform unpredictably; undependable.

**Difficult adj. - Requiring considerable effort or skill; not easy to do or accomplish.

Every year I garden I learn something new. This year it was, what should have been difficult (summer cabbages), turned out to be easy, but what should have been easy (green beans), turned out to be difficult.

I don't know... I just hoe the ground around here.

Nothing in the garden today. Morning filled with medical appointments and had to go to bed. Having a blast here at Unity Fest in Muskegon. Right now We Are Messengers are playing. Sanctus Real was amazing! Love the sing Confidence. Tomorrow will be Mathew West and Friday, Crowder. @CrealCritter, Saturday is Big Daddy Weave and Newsboys.
Got another neurology appointment tomorrow (video). Will try to check on the garden and see what to collect.
I do not do cucumbers nor pickles. Just the smell makes me sick, lol

some people call the smaller bumpy cucumbers pickles because that is what they are often made with. my brother liked them when they were the really small (gerkins i've also heard them called). i didn't like them that small because any splashed garden soil on them would need to be scrubbed off, i had a toothbrush i used. not very often though as that just took too much time.

picked tomato worms this morning (4), weeded until i got too hot and tired and that was enough for me.

oh, and picked two nice tomatoes. :) no BER seen so far. :) :) :)

The green fell as I was getting the big one,lol I really went to pick peppers and to my surprise, noticed the few red ones. Just need to pull some tiny onions, parsley, oregano and make some sofrito. I do not do salsa unless it is dancing salsa, lol I am a little late for the concert day 2.
