5 of the 8 garden boxes now cleaned out. Got red beets planted, looking to plant some spinach and kale to see if I can eke some out in one of the boxes now ready.

Did dig up a bed of potatoes planted with last year's leftovers. The heat and dought really stunted them. Got about 5 lbs of smallish whites. Going to dig a hunk of ham from the freezer and cook both with some green beans.

Asparagus, despite the lack of attention, isn't doing too bad. Weather forecast has a long dry spell, so I am going to start soaking them every few days.

The herbs didn't get wet while I was gone, not doing well.

Beautiful 70degree days have allowed me to be productive

yesterday was weeding and then picked a few tomatoes and a bucket of green peppers, a red pepper and some Beaver Dam peppers (enough to make a big bowl of casserole like stuffed peppers but i just cut them into chunks and stirred those into the rice, vegetables and meat mixture before baking it). had to get all those prepped and two pans baked last night (1:30am is a bit later than i planned to be up but Mom didn't bake two pans at once so...) and then baked the casserole bowl this morning - that will be brunch soon.

of course last night i had to taste test what came out the first batch and they were delicious. :)

Your casserole bowl sounds delicious!

it is! between the green peppers and the hot peppers it is about 1/2 peppers overall, the rice, other vegetables and ground chuck make up the balance.

i just had it for 2nd brunch... :)

had to divide it into containers for the fridge and will eat it over the next few days. cooling off and then into the fridge it goes. it was easier on us both this morning to put it in the oven and then i just left it in there until i could get back to it when i came back in from picking dry beans (i was also weeding as needed). the oven holds heat pretty well so it was still pretty hot.

some sprinkles came along and i was ready to call it done out there but it sure is a nice day. :)
