What did you do to save $ today?

Well, I cut my oldest sons hair today - and he wasn't happy with it :P

Does that count?

E cut and stacked wood from the tree we collected off our road after the last storm.

I also cut the sunflowers that were ready to harvest to dry and will mix the seeds into my chicken feed.

Made oatmeal/ choc. chip (gluten free) cookies, biscuits for bread and laundrey soap today. Yesterday I canned 9 pints of pork roast and put another large pork roast in the crockpot. If I figured right, I should have about 45 individual meals worth of meat for $23. Of course each pint will go with noodles or in casserole, etc.

that's awesome!!

I spent 2 hours comparing sales ads and making my grocery list and tracking down useable coupons for the trip tomorrow. This morning we took off a load of scrap and FINALLY got enough to make the house payment :weee :weee :weee

Pick up broke down Saturday. Dh and I spent a few hours yesterday to see if we could fix it before we took it to the shop. Found out we just needed a new battery, the old old was bought in Nov 2003. We got our moneys worth on that one.

Washed out a mess of plastic bags to re-use. Picked nearly ripe sunflower seed heads and fed them to the chickens, had left overs for dinner, which originally was made out of left over roasted chicken that I froze. Don't tell the family ;) Made our own baby food from our own vegies. Went to Goodwill to see if I could find some shorts that fit, but came home with a nice pair of shoes, which I also needed for only $1.00.
Tomorrow I plan on making my first batch of farmer's cheese and food savering stuff that is in the freezer, but in assorted containers. I have found that food that is properly sealed in food saver bags, lasts a couple of years, opposed to months. We are still eating berries and peppers, that I froze in 2009!! As long as all the air got sucked out and the bag sealed properly.

I took a neighbor, who has no car, to town while I was going anyway. She gave me a dollar :) I told her no charge for gas, but I needed a buck, and she gave me one, so I made a buck :D I saved a boatload of cash by buying only sales, and there were a LOAD of GREAT sales going on today and I had many many coupons. I got over half of my items for half price!! No idea exactly how much I saved, but it was well over $150 no doubt.

I got 40 yards of cotton material on Ebay for 8 bucks and free shipping - they are paying me to take that material, it's going to cost them more than that to ship it, even if they parcel post it!!! Also go 40 spools of new sewing machine thread for $20! It's got some weird colors in it, but my kids won't care - they'll think I did it on purpose.

It's been awhile since I've sewn, so I'm excited to start again. Mom bought a new sewing machine and is going to take hers to the shop for a tuneup and is giving me her old one, which is the Singer I grew up using. It has a bobbin problem every now and then, but I think I can live with that.
