The we decided that we needed to fence in some of our land right off the front of the house so our boy would have somewhere to play outside without us having to worry about snakes. Instead of paying someone big$$$ to come build one for us, or even paying less than that and buying the pre built panels, we bought all the materials and built it ourselves. This saved us alot of money! All we lack is building the gates and it's complete.

I got a Sam's Club card today and went and got some GREAT deals on groceries for the month.

CUTE little two shelf table that fits next to the end of our sofa to serve the need of having something for folks to put drinks on AND holds our DVD's freeing up bookshelf space for BOOKS (YIPPY!) for $5.00!!!

Basket for some things next to the bath tub (probably the homemade soaps and extra scrubbies and my pumace stone) $1.00
8 panel (2'x2' square panels) Wire portable "cage" for the chinchilla's to play in while we clean their cage $10.00
Horse soaking boot (for soaking hooves when they have an abscess) $5.00 (normally no less than $30.00!)
A wall heavy barn coat with a hood that FITS me for only $5.00 (finding things that are small enough for me, but with long enough sleeves is amazing!)
I think that's all..... We spent less than $35.00 and got a BUNCH of stuff! Saved a boatload of money, and all of it is very useful stuff that won't just sit around.
SO happy with the little shelf for the dvd's, now people can put their drinks somewhere, and ALL of our DVD's except the box sets fit on it, which frees up about a shelf and a half of space for me to put more books on!!
stopped at kmart and they had all the trees and bushes 50% off
well i got 3 peach trees for a whopping 21.00
and later today i go buy a 1992 mercury tracer (ford escort) with 87k original miles for a whopping 900.00..which is perfect cause my oldest son is 12 now so he will most likely get it in 4 years..i need this car for a run around car cause htis car gets 30 mpg and my truck gets 16 mpg. plus the insurance on the tracer is a whopping 120.00 every 6 months...almost makes me want to sell my truck...which im thinking about as i can get about 6000 for my truck and im looking at trucks that are like 1999 for only 3k

I agree with you about yard sales. I've found some remarkable deals. I live in a rural area, though, and very many people in my valley live an SS-type of lifestyle, so it's pretty competitive - finding the good & useful stuff (not the gee-gaws) at the yard sales. It's a matter of being at the right place at the right time, but if you are it can be great.hqueen13 said:

The extravagance of many households based in those communities shows itself in what is put up for sale, often at dirt-cheap prices. Yup, that's a good reason for us to spend yard saling now while we're still "in the city" rather than once we get out into the middle of nowhere where everyone keeps everything! LOL
I'm always scouting for canning jars, cast iron frying pans, and other things that people have run out of uses for. I keep an eye out for the sales that look like they come from older families or a parent's house that is being cleaned out before moving and things like that. Joel, you would have died and gone to heaven at one place, they were getting rid of a LOT of old wood working tools and such. I wish I could have bought some of it up, but I had no idea what half of it was! LOL Neither of us have that skill, so we didn't buy any of it. The tools were beautiful and had obviously been well loved.

I stopped in at Value Village while I was out running errands this morning, and scored a bunch of canning jars at 29c each: 2 quart Gems, 1 pint Kerr, and 5 half-pint jam jars
