I have smoked Kielbasa, potatoes, and homegrown peppers & onions....I plan on doing some sort of casserole, not really sure yet. Along with some homemade foccacia and garlic sauteed homegrown summer squash.

What is for dinner at your house?

I'm drooling :D

We're having a split pea soup with broccoli, zucchini and spinach in it, then probably fresh applesauce, maybe grilled cheese and pear-ginger crisp.

Wow, now I'm hungry. TIme for lunch :p

Tonight I think we will have a thick chunky-style chicken vegetable soup (made with stock from Sunday's roast chicken, which was the first of our broilers that we've eaten), and cheese melted onto toasted rolls, and salad with the last couple vine-ripened tomatoes and some feta that should prolly get eaten soon.

We're having Potato & Kale Soup with homemade Herb & Garlic Bread.

Potato & Kale Soup
1 T olive oil
1 c chopped onion (our garden)
4 cloves garlic, diced (our garden)
2 - 4 medium potatoes, peeled & cubed (local farm mkt)
4 carrots, diced (local farm mkt)
1 - 2 quarts veggie stock (homemade)
2 c shredded kale leaves (friend's garden)

Heat the oil in stockpot over med heat. Add onions and saut until translucent, about 6 minutes. Add the garlic and carrots and saut about 1 min. Add the stock and potatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes. Add kale and simmer for about 1/2 hr longer, covered.

Herb & Garlic Bread
1.5 cups warm water (110)
2 Tablespoons oil - extra virgin olive or any nut
4 cups bread or all purpose flour
1.5 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1.25 teaspoons dried basil (our garden)
1.25 teaspoons dried summer savory or marjoram or thyme or rosemary (our garden)
1.25 teaspoons dried tarragon or parsley (our garden)
3 Tablespoons dried sliced garlic (our garden)
2.25 teaspoons yeast

This recipe came from a book for making bread with a bread machine. I use my bread machine only to mix and knead the dough. Then I divide the dough, place it in buttered glass bread pans, and let it rise for a final time before baking at 325F for 20 - 25 minutes until golden brown. This recipe makes one 2 pound loaf or two 1 pound loaves.

Stir-fried broccoli, tofu, cabbage, and shiitake mushrooms with some brown rice. Better go eat it now while it's still warm.
