For heavy work in dry weather, I use leather or leather palm/canvas gloves.
For wet work, I use sure grip gloves. They are rubberized palms and fingers with a knit back.
For wet work that requires being able to feel what I am doing, (like planting trees while on a tree planter) I use similar gloves, but the rubberized parts are not textured.
I use the smaller, women's gloves because I hate loose fitting ones.
