those wringers were nasty contraptions. My mother's biggest fear, was that I would get my fingers caught in there, when I was a little tot. I can still hear her telling me to stay away from it.

That is what my Mom used to wash clothes with.
After I left home, she got a "new automatic washing machine".
I had one of those Hoover washing machine that you rolled up to the kitchen sink. I got my hand twisted many times in the "spin dryer" section of it.
Anyone remember these?
