wyodreamer - we're not in Wyo any more

We did a quick little remodel project in the kitchen. We removed the old enameled kitchen sink unit so we could install a dish washer. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the original sink when the kitchen was built. The metal base unit was pretty rusted and the drawers didn't work very well, no rollers they just slid metal on metal. There was a mouse living in there also, so mouse dropping everywhere.
So here are the before and "what we got done so far" pictures. kitchenredo1.jpg
Sorry it is rotated, I don't know how to fix it

Here is a current picture.

Backsplash is up but we don't have the wood for the edging up yet. This is only one section of countertop done, there is still another 3 sections to do...

Spring has sprung.

We are getting a garden area ready and DH plowed up an area for sunflowers, popcorn and pumpkins.

The popcorn is from a big bag that DH had bought for long-term food storage but never got sealed in a bucket. We had a chipmunk in the basement that chewed into the bag and spilled it all over the floor. I swept it up and we will see if it will grow.

Here are some shots of spring in Wisconsin.

Here is a tool that every Self-Sufficient/DIY'er should have.
NailPliers.jpg
We had a heck of a time removing the nails from the trim we removed around the windows when we replaced them. We are going to try to reuse the trim since it is original to the house. These pliers pulled the nails from this old, hard mahogany without any extra damage or problems. Then we used them on nails used on the hardwood flooring planks we had to pull up for a project. Worked good on them also. I think these pliers would be so useful to anyone recycling old wood for new projects.

Thanks for the picture of the of those pliers! I showed it to DH and he agrees they would be very good to have, so now I will be looking for a pair.

Home Depot and Menards both carry them, they were around $13. They were in the aisle with the pry bars.

Those are neat. I might have to look for a pair.
