I am impressed with your work. You are an awesome artist in wood. Beautiful, just beautiful.

I wanted to show just how thin the 8 string bass is. These pictures are from when the finish was drying and before final assembly and setup.

Hmmmm...somebody likes Northern Tools? I like the hat.

Very nice work. How long did it take you to get to the drying step?

About 40 or so hours from rough cut lumber to putting a finish on it. Probably about another 5 hours polishing, installing the pups, soldering the wiring, stringing, setup, tweaking, testing and polishing.

I had this faster tempo bluesy / rock song stuck in my head today. So I wrote some lyrics to what was in my head. See if your husband can use it.

<verse 1>
Now you say that you're leavin'
Well it can't be too soon
You spend all of my money
And knocked my guitar out of tune.

<verse 2>
Well you say you're sick and tired
Tired of having me around
You call me cheatin' liar
And you drove my car into the ground.

<chorus>
I'll be glad when you're gone
Yes, I'll be glad when you're gone
And when you finally walk out that door
Darlin', please don't come back no more

<verse 3>
Now I wish I'd never known you
You know I wish we'd never met
When I was drunk you gave me whiskey
When I was ill you called the vet.

<verse 4>
Well you say that it's over
And you think you'll bring me down
If you come back here lookin' for me
You'll find me out there on the town.

<chorus>
And I'll be glad when you're gone
Yes I'll be glad when you're gone
When you finally walk out that door
Darlin', please don't come back no more

If your husband reads sheet - I could send that to you as well - I'm almost done with it.

I just got my next commish - just waiting for the check to be delivered overnight to get started.

It will be built with quartsawn walnut and figured quartersawn hard maple sapwood just like is pictured. But Instead of the six string guitar on top - It's going to be a 5 sting fretless bass on top and 8 string fretted double octave bass on bottom Both at 33 1/4" scale.

It won't have the pick guard either but instead both wings will be hollowed out to decrease the body weight. Again this one will be ultra thin like 1" thick thin. I need to closely monitor the weight during the build to ensure it's balanced when strapped so it doesn't neck dive. And the customer said "I don't want to be standing on stage with a freaking log strapped around my neck" :lol. I already factored in the added cost of lightweight machine heads so I have a little room for error. I'll also be making deer bone nuts again for this build. It should be very enjoyable... First ever double neck for me.

Can't wait to get started :)

Ken says you are WAY over his head. :) He isn't a professional. He just likes to strum and sing. But having said that, he loves what you are getting ready to do. He is a mechanical engineer and loves working with his hands.

This is going to be so awesome! I can't believe how thin you make them. I am utterly amazed at the high level of your craftsmanship.

Do you provide a certificate, telling what wood and how you made it, with each guitar?
