Still raining, but here's a picture of the new fence:

Even if we take it apart, it is 100' feet of solid free wood, complete with gate latch and hinges:

So, we decided to take the (free wood!)fence apart. Our son spent much of yesterday pulling out old staples, screws, and nails, removing old chicken wire, and cleaning and stacking the boards from the fence. At the end of the day, we had 96 boards 6" wide x 1" thick x 4' long and a bunch of 2x4's.

We decided to build a half wall on the deck. We want to screen in the top half, and then add removable panels to make it more usable all year. So I took off all of the old boards, and our son started adding the new boards. He finished just after dark. Here are some beginning pictures. More tomorrow.

I think I love Andy, MMD. What a good, good son he is!!! :love I don't see a single whip mark on him where you've had to drive him like a mule to get him to participate in projects around there....I think Eli needs to takes notes and up his game by 100%. o_O

I LOVE that you got that free fencing and also what you are doing with it...that should be really pretty when he gets it done. Great score on that! :woot

Saving all the chicken wire you can? :pop

Yes, we saved all the chicken wire. And all the screws we took out...
And all of the old deck posts...

And no whip marks on this boy! He's busy every day, and doesn't need a boss.... Or a nagging mom! He's very self motivated! It's really refreshing to have someone healthy on the property who can help cross some of these projects off the lists. :):celebrate

Nice! What a good son you have raised, and so talented too! I love free, used wood or Lowes reject rack. We are going to extend the roof off the portable building to make a better shelter for the sheep and we will have to go BUY new 2x4's for it. You just don't know how this hurts my heart....... LOL

Oh, but @baymule, I think I do!! It's bothering me that I can't find enough plywood to finish the roof on our new coop!

We're not done with the coop yet, but this is how the deck wall looks from the free wood we got when we took the fence apart. We'll get a gate done soon, and we're thinking of making a corner table with extra wood.
