Do you grow fruit trees or berry bushes?

It's easy to make blackberry brandy (or liqueur)... just wash the blackberries and put them in a jar and cover with brandy (cheap is ok for this) although I prefer golden rum as it seems to taste more like fresh blackberries to me. Let it sit in your closet or some other dark place for a couple of months, then add simple syrup (2parts sugar to 1part water) to taste. That's all there is to it! I've done the same for quince, crab apple, and plum.

Yes yes that is how I made it. Thank you cause for the life of me I just couldn’t remember.

When we were kids mom always gave us a shot of blackberry brandy if we had stomach cramps or were sick...

My favorite jelly/jam is beet jelly, and it's a gorgeous color. Mom always made it with strawberry. Sorry, I don't have a recipe.

I've always wished I could stand the taste of alcohol so I could make various wines...a little wine is supposed to be good for you...but I never could stand the taste, so had to pass.

We still need to plant our fruit and berries. Needed to see the land for a year first so I didn't plop them in a terrible spot. But I'm still not sure where everything should go, so I think we'll just buy a few things this year and stick them somewhere!

Wild black raspberries grow around the property, but that's about it.

@mythreesons290322 the crab apple liqueur tastes like apple, but more intense. I tried making liqueur using sweet apples and it was very bland- the crabapple and the quince were both apple-y and a bit tart. I think the sweet apple would have been better with some spice added, like a cinnamon stick or 3

Makes two of us! Especially when I read about all these yummy things they are making with the produce. I love berries and miss having fruit trees, but until I am on my own property, I'm not keen to buy and plant too many bushes and trees that I may not stick around long enough for to see the produce.
