Oh Chester, goats are so difficult! Glad he's doing better.

Hopefully your boss keeps doing her job. She could end up with a less tolerant boss (good for you, bad for her!)

We blew it today. Valentine's Day is our anniversary, but we never go out on that day, restaurants are too crowded. We found ourselves in Tyler today with time to kill between appointments, so we went to lunch. DH had fried catfish with ALL the trimmings. I had cheesy grits with grilled shrimp. Damn it was good.

But - I don't know how cuz I'm milking Cameo every day now and getting at least 1/2 gallon each milking...mostly from one teat. Geeze...her babies are just dumb!

A thought occurred to me in the wee hours last night. What would happen if you smeared honey or sugar water on the teat they won't use?

Usually just taping the side they are using makes them use the other side. But are these ones switching sides but only using one at a time? They're not the smartest kids in the world are they?

I don't think honey or anything sweet would work because kids are notorious for not wanting anything different. They are just dumb, lol. They will use one teat for a few days and then switch to the other. What I've been doing lately is milking out both teats so they are both soft. They seem to not like the over filled one because the teat is harder the fuller it is. Eventually, I'm sure they'll "get" it. It's going to take them both being really hungry and wanting to nurse at the same time. I'm going to work on that when I'm off later this week. I'll pen them up one night and have her pre-milked so that both teats are nice and soft and hope, hope, hope they'll both be hungry enough to nurse and find their own teat. I think part of the problem is that Cameo is such a heavy milker that she can easily feed two babies on one teat....

When do you have more goats due?
That's a great question, lol! But, I have a horrible answer and it's: I dunno!

I'm keeping an eye on several right now. The pygmy doe is progressing but not real close. I did see Chester breed her and if that breeding was successful she would be due mid-March-ish. There are a couple of does in the pasture that are working on udders and I'm watching them pretty closely. I guess Mother Nature is in control and I'm just along for the ride. :)
