Several years ago I was about to purchase a devil chicken split/fork comb. I don't even recall the breed now but my wife talked me out of it. I found the picture on my cell phone though. I wanted it for nothing less than a novelty.

I'd love some of those one day! I like unusual and "different" breeds, but I draw the line at Silkies and Showgirls

Re: Showgirls. Hubby's comment regarding the breeding of them: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!" Silkies are much more prone to external parasites.

Overheard at TSC yesterday, between 2 middle aged men:

"Oh look. Ducks! Let's get a duck. They are CHEAP."

"What are we gonna do with a duck?"

"It would be fun. We could let him run around the house and stuff."

"I'm not sure I want a duck."

"Aw, come on. We could take him out to camp and let him swim around."

"Nah. I'm not sure about that."

"I'll buy you one."

Conversation shifts to the help desk, with store manager.

Manager: "how can I help you?"

Customer: "I wanna buy a duck."

Manager: "You can't buy just one duck. You have to buy 6."

Customer to his friend: "He says we gotta buy 6." They then walk out of store, empty handed.

Yet one more case of animal lives saved by the "minimum of 6" policy.

How can you not love these little mutants?

I've never had much parasite issue on them. Had more issues on some of my easter eggers.

They are so easily picked on and don't even act like my ameraucana and easter eggers. Even the half silkie hens act like silkies, not ameraucana

They're adorable, but I don't want any :) I'd love some WFS, Ayam Cemani and Crèvecœur... Maybe some Breda Fowl, they are stunning.

Most of mine are partridge. I'm going to hatch eggs from the 2 hens that color this year and cross my fingers that the rooster is carrying a copy of lavender. If not I'll have to breed back and keep track of the offspring. Technically they are partridge with 2 copies of lavender. I love that coloring though.
