The only species that looks anywhere similar is orange on the bottom and black on top. Doesn't have the same habbits, though, and I've never actually seen one here. No other one has any orange.

So freak mutation. Same as when they occasionally are black or even white. Happens in all creatures. I'm wondering how likely it is to pass the mutation on.

There's a skewbald deer that lives in the city down the hill. It had a skewbald fawn last year.

Oddly MOST of the new evergreen trees are just variants picked, pulled or cut off of a damaged/mutated tree. I know my numbers are wrong but I want to say the # of species has doubled many times in the last century.
They just took something wrong and kept growing it. Ex. a small yellow patch (not supposed to be there) on a tree grafted to make a new sub species.

And today is the 3rd anniversary of my ER visit to get the rat tooth cut out of my toe.

Warning to all. DO NOT try to stomp a rat to death in flip flops. It doesn't work well.

NE Ohio, 41.28493 latitude

Sunset is at about 7pm here. We're not particularly far north in my opinion, 47.03°N. It is noticeable between Mom and me, though. She's at 45.9°N

Latitude and altitude and what direction you face... make such huge differences in climate etc.

I'm near coast. I can attest that the Atlantic makes a difference in our weather and temps are greatly influenced. Mostly in a good way.

Oh yes....coast verses interior!

I am nice and mild on the coast.... no way would I ever live in interior Alaska.

We have the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound helping keep us warmer as well. We're not too high in elevation. Only 729 feet. On the wet side of the Cascades which also helps. We're also mostly out of the Olympics rain shadow so we get more rain than Tacoma.
