I am sure it has some effect on him, but he is a parent. parents will do what they can for their children, I would do anything for my girls.

Yes, I dearly hope he's not uncomfortable. Or sad, I hope it doesn't make him sad seeing how debilitating pregnancy has made me. Not what I pictured at all.

It definitely can be for some.

At our house all of the pregnancies resulted in at least 3 months of motionlessness, not bed rest but due to severe nausea. Movement = throwing up.

As to your dad... I don't care how old you are, you will always be their tiny baby. It is nice to feel needed. I really can't imagine he minds at all.

Something I can speak to with formal authority!

Yes, dad's who love their kids will move heaven and earth when needed. My youngest had found herself in a bad situation. She did not want want me to know, but her mom could not manage it alone. Reluctantly they reached out to me. We got her mental health needs addressed immediately and I secured the legal support she needed without question. After everything got more or less resolved, she was shocked that I helped so much. My response was this is what dads do.

It also undercut the ex's line of BS that I was an unfit father, too. Added bonus.

Yes, dad's who love their kids will move heaven and earth when needed. My youngest had found herself in a bad situation. She did not want want me to know, but her mom could not manage it alone. Reluctantly they reached out to me. We got her mental health needs addressed immediately and I secured the legal support she needed without question. After everything got more or less resolved, she was shocked that I helped so much. My response was this is what dads do

I just feel bad that I need him to help me do every little thing, like walk to the porch, or feed my animals. It's super embarrassing to send a 46 year old man to milk the cows in the morning.

It's not like you DON'T have a real need. Just remind him how much this means to you. Sometimes in awkward pregnancy situations, guys/dads just need to feel needed because we are so powerless to do the man thing and "fix" the problem.

I’m pretty powerless to fix the situation too. At least we’re in the same boat!

my 2 cents--
*multiple bassinet sheets and more crib sheets down the road- leaks happen and sometimes more than once in the night.
*I would personally get 2 changing pads, nothing fancy, but then you can change both at the same time
*more one piece outfits-again leaks happen (and spit up)
*more onsies--see above
*I LOVED nightgowns when they were really little-didn't have to try and snap or zip in the middle of the night for diapers changes, just lift them up and change
*sleep sacks--especially in the winter as blankets aren't advised until they can roll-even swaddled. (I did swaddle during the day for naps but never at night)
*yes to the pacifiers--some kids I swear "need" them unless you want to be nursing 24/7
*baby sling-sometimes is nice with walking in the woods or somewhere you don't want to have to lug a stroller
*wipes or stuff to make your own
*Play pen--meh depends on your bassinet--if you get a pack n play with the bassinet attachment those are the best
*only need 1 tub--I never used one but some do
*feeding pillows are good just for tummy time and propping up even if you never use it for feeding
*more burp cloths--like 4xs as many, unless you are going to do laundry daily and I didn't bc all I wanted to do was sleep and I only had 1 at a time

More burp cloths. Got it. I had no idea the baby couldn’t sleep swaddled… is it dangerous as a newborn? I’ll add sleep sacks to the list.
