WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

~15 pounds of chicken cut up and ready to load up and run through the canner. 3 batches of baked beans (1 of which is with the bourbon infused sorghum) baking in the oven. Everything prepped before 10 am this morning.

Unfortunately, chicken was not on sale. Down to about 10 pints left in the larder. This exercise will add back in about 20 pints. Since I have the canner out, beans were an obvious choice

Can't win them all -- but was a good thought! 😂. Yep, better to stock up at "low" than "out". I try to look at what's there & decide if I need more -- but doesn't always work.

I aim for minimal to no grocery shopping Nov- Feb.:idunno. Need to inspect freezer stock soon, it's pretty full.

Oh my goodness. The baked bean recipe (from Ball) where I substituted the molasses with the bourbon infused sorghum was awesome as I was jarring it up. Can't wait to taste it after it sits on the shelf for a bit. No alcohol taste, more like caramelized

Canner round 2 is coming up to pressure.

Oh! And the dishwasher is full and running. I use a lot of bowls to stay organized when I am in the kitchen (like all the ingredients measured and ready to go first before I start in earnest), but I also clean up behind myself, so when I am done, there is very little to do to finish up.
