can I grow them the same as Pontiac reds?

The bunnies? Generally, they don't grow very well if you bury them too deep. Sorry... I couldn't resist. It's past my bed time. Ignore the sick humor.

Yep. IIRC, Yukon is an early potato. If you go to the Fedco Seeds site, there are a LOT of varieties listed. The descriptions are pretty good, and tell you whether a spud is early, mid or late season.

Me and the 3 year old got broccoli set out yesterday. Then a neighbor came over and cut two dead trees next to the horse barn. Today we clean up the mess.

planted lettuce, carrots, radishes, and turnips today. and a bunch of flowers. our woodchips have became soil, for all intents and purposes. we don't dig down to dirt anymore, just rake the big stuff off the top and sow.

That's some good looking dirt ya got there! Several years ago I put down feed sacks and covered 'em with pine shavings. Can't find any of it now - it's been eaten by the garden. Good stuff! It's always amazing to me how completely some of that stuff breaks down.
