I don't want to line the inside with foam. I'm hoping the wood will help maintain even humidity because it absorbs water. Yep gotta have some fresh air too.

I've had he'll with foam incubators. I've only used one of coarse.

Hoping to get back to work on it this evening. We will see how it goes

Well, I'm sure you are planning to run it a few days to test the heat & humidity control.... we're waiting for updates. Also, do you have a turner or planning to do by hand? That could really alter the controls.

I was planning on hand turning them. Idk if i can fit one of the cheap turners in there and i dont want to build one. Not sure yet.

Yes definitely going to test run it and see how it does.

What wouod you suggest I do differently on the controls if I hand turn them?

well I lied and broke my own rules. Just bought a $60 digital read out thermostat with remote bulb. It has a 1 degree differential. Should work nicely.

What I was referring to was length of time door was open to hand turn vice auto -- that changing humidity & temp. I always turned each egg and even changed their position within the group -- like center to edge, etc. But don't the auto turners "just" basically tilt the entire group from one angle to another? If so, why can't you use an egg crate & alter tilt? faster. Never watched auto, so not sure. Others can help here. LOL

The heat strip alone is pulling 4.1 amps. At 116 volts (what I have) that's just under 500 watts. It wasn't as simple as I thought. It's not 3 seperate strips. They are all bonded together in series. So where you place the wires and how many directly effect the resistance. It's a series parallel circuit. Rather than do all the calculations I just tried some trial and error with the amp clamp and wire positions. Worked well. Got it on the second try

Simple solution - put something under one side of the unit...just rock it back and forth on that. Don't have to open the door at all for that

I'm thinking of getting a couple of those automatic turners from tsc for the little giant bators. I don't think they will fit in my narrow cabinet but I'm sure I could cut them down.

What would you guys recommend for a good remote bulb hygrometer?
