I used to raise rabbits. Sometimes they will turn the colors you least expect. The amount of genetic variation (recessive and dominant color genes) is unique with each animal.

Speaking of genetics, the grey doe is gonna go to the freezer eventually. In 6 months she has had 3 litters. The largest was 4 and one died. My nzw and black have 7 or 8. Dang good rabbits!

Well egg production has slowed a little bit. I was getting 7 everyday from 9 hens. I figured a couple were not laying but i did some research and checked them. They all seem to be laying. Anyhow now its down to 6 because one of my sexlinks went broody. Shes been at it for a couple days. I finally gave in today and slid some eggs under her. If shes not gonna lay she might as well do something productive

Today was feedstore day. 150 lbs of rabbit food, 150 lbs of chicken food, 50 lbs of scratch and 50 lbs of dog food. Comes to about $120 every month for the 45 chickens, 20ish rabbits and 2 dogs. Next month more should start laying and that should help offset feed bills

Geeze, I hate feedstore day! I've been spending nearly that much a week. :he Thankfully with spring being upon us - my feed bill drops drastically. Hope your broody does good for ya!

Holy moly FEM... My feed bill is hovering between $200-250/month, including the dogs, with the 2 pigs that are nearly ready to butcher. It'll be around $150 once they're gone (I hope).

Good luck with the broody hen!

I know!! But, selling all those goats a couple weeks ago and being able to let the milkers utilize pasture now has really made a huge difference. And, the pigs are on pasture now too, so it's gotten a whole lot better! Forgot to add that figure does include dog food too. I'm in the "thinking about it" stage of putting another Craigslist ad out for the ND's. I need to find their papers...
