Abifae - Ciao Babies!

Depressing article. It sure seems to be true locally. My 19-year-old son's peers are ALL unemployed. NONE have jobs. My son is one of the exceptions, but he invented his own job working from home repairing websites for people. Many are in Japan, etc., not in the US. Also, none of his peers have their own automobiles, and I'm talking about young MEN.

Compared to my older daughter, 10 years ago, all her peers had jobs as burger-flippers or were going to college or both. Now she can only get a job weekends as a cocktail waitress whereas she has always been well-employed in the restaurant/hospitality industry.

Yep. More scary that they are finally admitting there is an issue instead of trying to gloss it over. It isn't like anyone doesn't KNOW we are largely unemployed.

Did someone say large and unemployed? HERE I AM! :frow :lau

I like inventing my own jobs :) Today, I am not working for pay, so therefore I am unemployed :P

Job?..I used to have one of those. Well, I had 2 for a while. Then, moved myself to SC..had one fulltime one at 72+ hours a week. Got waylaid by the big lay off in 09. Called back in 2010. As a recycled fulltimer reduced to a part time temp. I did that for 6 months..then moved 75 miles away...moving in with my fiance. Now, I pinch pennies. Make Uncle Able Linclon, the penny, bleed 3x before I can afford to let him go. I wish all this belt tightening would some how make me skinnier :he

Well, Britesea, it is why i got cna. I can find a job easy that pays LESS than I currently make with that license....

Yeh Moxie... most of my friends are underemployed. I feel rich, usually.

I had CNA, HHA, CMA....from Kansas. But when I moved to SC in 08..I wasn't able to find a job in healthcare soon enuff. I ended up in production, and my certs for healthcare expired 2 years later. By then, the recession was in full swing. Now, if I want to go back into healthcare, I have to go back through the courses. I am not finding where SC has any medication aide jobs though. I would rather do that.

I don't care what I do. I don't have enough imagination to picture a job that I would love... so I'm going for something I can stand and that pays my bills :D

This month's Saveur features Wild Fermentation!! There's a whole section by a guy who went to a retreat at Katz's and learned it :D
