Oh, and another thing to report! My perpetually broody hen, Wanda, has been broody for months now. One of my friends gave me 3 BR chicks so I stuck them under her and now she's their momma.

Well, *if* they hatch (trying to not get my hopes up) depending on how many I get I may try to raise them all and then sell them when they're either half or fully grown, as pairs. I do have some friends interested in them, but I am being greedy and wanting to make some money off of them. *If* they hatch. And I may keep a pair or two, depending on what I get.

So I was ready to process 12 broilers this past weekend. I was going to do it Saturday, but then got busy. Then I was supposed to do it Sunday, but Sunday rolled around and I did not want to do it! I just wanted to cry at the thought of setting everything up and doing all that work. Ugh. Lazy!! I talked with DH and decided that we'd just pay $2.50 each to have them done by someone else. I dropped them off last night and probably will pick them up today or tomorrow. It was so nice to be able to let someone else do it!! I hated to spend the $30, but really it's just so worth it sometimes!

Today is day 16 for my chicken eggs in the incubator, and day 14 for the turkey eggs. I don't know if I should "lockdown" the incubator on day 18 or not. Is it worth it to risk the chicks hatching in order to turn the turkey eggs? The chicken eggs were free(my own eggs), and the turkey eggs were about $30. I think I'd rather keep turning the turkey eggs. Any thoughts?

Are turkey eggs the same? You put them in lock down on the 18th day? If so, you've only got a 2 day difference - if you have your incubator in a bathroom you can steam up the place then open the bator a little to quickly turn the turkey eggs.


BTW...have you washed your hands with some SOAP yet?

Ack, Glen! I'm not sure if it came in yet. We did get a box on our porch yesterday but i was too busy to get a chance to look at it! I know my sis sent some books for b-day presents, so it could either be your soap or the books! I can't wait to use the soap though!!!

OFG, heck yeah, I love me some meaties! We raised our own for the past few years but this year I cheated and got some for free from a large chicken grower. I did finish them out for the past 2.5 weeks so they got *good* food and free-range time! We always process our own, but I felt lazy this time. Hehe.

And I'm seriously thinking about driving to OH for some brownies!!! I could use some! But my waistline doesn't need them.

I sent them in a little white puffy envelope.....gee...I hope it didn't get lost! It went out on Friday....
