I need a better growing summer than this past year. The old precipitation record was 53.8 inches - this year was 64.2 inches - and that is the official record at Cleveland Hopkins airport (from www.cleveland.com). Where we live we often get more rain than at the airport.

You were in the same boat as me - dodging rain, and it would be sunny while we were working or in school.

I think I'm going to try to grow sunchokes again, or better yet, grow them and prevent them from taking over the garden. The wife wants to try to make low-carb pasta from dried ground 'chokes. Someone put the powdered/dried tomato bug in her ear, too.

I may be busy...

Yea days were warm and dry on school days :/ What exactly is sunchoke used for? I'd like to start a rabbit garden to, to aid in rabbit feeding. They do seem to love the greens. Any new animal plans?

Sunchoke can be used as a potato substitute for people going low carb. It tastes sort of like water chestnuts. You eat the tubers that look like ginger roots. The stuff is prolific!

No major animal plans - we still have 23 layers, but I'm trying to convince the kids to get rid of the oldest 12, this will be their 4th laying summer, so we can get a few new varieties. Meaties are on deck for the spring.

I was joking with my BIL Christmas afternoon about needing to get a dairy cow. The wife said "no", but had that "maybe" tone in her voice. It's not happening, though.

I would get rid of the older ones, and add new ones as well. Were not doing meaties til we get the cow. You should get a cow Jamie, thatd be great. Me with a cow, you with a cow, Cindi with goats. We'd be dairy people

I'm the only one in the house that would eat rabbit.

I milked cows as a youngster - I can do it. Our lifestyle right now doesn't allow for a cow. I can live vicariously through you two.

Our lifestyle should slow down, more. I have to do some cheating to get my crew hooked, but so far they seem willing

Not the rabbits Ive seen, I helped slaughter some and there is a lot meat than one would think........
