BeccaOH: Update of just STUFF

Two nice finds last night:
Yet another broody hen. This time it is a BA in her second spring of laying. She didn't brood last year. The other 2 are BOs. I think I'll set this hen on duck eggs. The 2 BOs are currently sharing a nest, but the younger one only has one egg as the older one took the other 3. :gig

My other find was a turkey nest where 4 hens have stockpiled 12 eggs. It is in the straw, on the ground, in the hoop house I was planning to move soon. I'd like them to set the nest, but I really need to move the turkeys out of my garden. :/

Cool beans, Becca! :D

Would you mind replying to my email :gig

Congrats on your blue egg! And it seems that you have a number of layers too...I think that is a wonderful sign of spring. :D

So glad to hear your mom is doing well after her surgery on Monday. You're both in our prayers.

Celebrate with me :weee
I just hatched out my first call duckling. Looks like it is a pure white. :love It has already decided the spray bottle for misting water that I keep in the incubator is its mother. :lau

And, another celebration :weee
I got my first goose egg! Came from my pair of geese that are almost exactly a year old. Been hard to tell sex on these guys, but at least I now know I have one girl. :gig

And last night I brought home 3 Embden geese from Bourbon Red (2 ganders and a goose). The goose looks almost exactly like my Lucy. I put the geese in a separate pen from my other waterfowl, but so far they have seemed to ignore each other.

Saturday I raided the turkeys' nest. They were collecting eggs for a week, but no setting. So I gathered 26 eggs. :ep I'm going to incubate and see if any are viable. I need to move the turkey house and try to encourage the hens to start another nest and SIT on it.

We had some snow this past week, but I have patches of grass that are already starting to look long. I'll be mowing before long. :th

This time of year sure makes me wish I had an asparagus patch. Do you realize I bought roots TWICE and never got them trenched in the ground? Couldn't decide where to put them and couldn't find time to trench them. :duc

Last of my baby bunnies go to sale today, and I have a doe building a nest. :bun

My mom had hip replacement and is doing well. She may be home by the end of the week.

Life is crazy busy here and spring has just begun.:hide

Oooooo baby ducks!!! I have a ton of runner duck eggs....man I need an incubator! Pics of the little bugger please....call duck babies are the cutest little things...they have the sweetest little heads.....you just wanna squeeze 'em till they pop!!! :love

I now have:
5 call ducklings (appear to be all whites)
3 Copper Black Marans
2 Blue Marans
1 Mille Fleur Bearded d'Uccle
and a pipping Sebastopol gosling

More to hatch soon, but I'm struggling with my egg math. I was ready to give up on the Marans when they started to pip. I've got some project eggs ready to hatch (day 21 tomorrow, I think  ) but no pips yet.

These ducklings sure are camera hams. I think about getting rid of the call ducks and narrowing my focus. . .then I see these. AHHHHH :love
