Bee~ Journal of then...

I'm loving the snow so far this year...and I think it is here to stay now. We don't have alot yet...not enough to do anything with except we have to drive alot slower...almost took the ditch getting out of here TWICE this morning!
Better to hit the ditch in the dead of winter, the landing is alot softer but it is really hard to get back out:>) LOL!

You need to get a new computer.....then you wouldnt have so much catching up to do lol.

Can I ask, what exactly was wrong with yours? Did you fix it yourselves?

Nah, I took it to a computer guy and I'm going to do so one last time. I'm going to buy Windows XP and have him install it, as Vista seems to have problems for anyone who has it. Love Vista, hate Vista's problems!

My DH had Vista removed and XP installed on his laptop - works much better. I have XP on my desktop and have never had the 1rst problem.

I got 2 seed catalogs Wednesday. Haven't had a chance yet, but I'm gonna start comparing prices. I have customers that I do special orders for, and I like to have those in before February. My dad is excited because he can plant potatoes in three months

Right after Christmas I haul out the seed catalogs and start dreaming. This is the first year for me to start my own bedding plants from seed, so I'm pretty excited!

I've been reading alot of Joel Salatin and hope to go visit his farm, Polyface, after the first of the year. Found out he doesn't live too far from here and I'm real interested to see how he manages his grass, sheep and chickens. He's ascerbic, no doubt, but I agree with him in most cases about farm managing and even about his lifestyle.

Take notes when you go--esp about th rabbits and chickens together. I expect a full report when you get back!!!! I would lov to see his opration--but he's too far for me. So if I may, can I live vicariously through you?

Yeah, whoever that guy is......um who is he? lol I want to know too!!
Google him. He's got a pretty unique set up for farming, but he doesn't give alot of info on how he does it. He says come and see for yourself, or buy his books which is not an option for alot of us.

Library! Sometimes you can read info on him in Countryside or MEN. Even in his books he doesn't break it down into details as much as I would like, such as the exact construction of his eggmobiles, what types of grass he grows, details about his hay feeders, etc. I'm going to see if he has a website and see if I can visit his place this winter. He has some excellent ideas and I feel they have merit, but few folks want to work as hard as these folks do. I don't mind, I need more activity to take off some of this lard!! :D

Yes, you may! :D I have already tried the rabbits over chickens on a small scale and it worked wonderfully. I had a chicken tractor also. This all worked very well and the chickens kept the bedding turned and made some excellent compost.
