The skies just opened up for about 30 seconds, and all hell broke loose. We're back to that annoying drizzle where you can't get anything done and don't need a jacket or umbrella but really really wish you were dry when you walk outside.

I just checked on the garden. I HAVE PEPPERS!!! YA'LL! My start from scratch bucket peppers have peppers on them!!!

I also have a TON of baby tomatoes.

I'm excited.

I'm going to make so much salsa.

I know I've posted this picture before a few times. But this is the picture that shows Maya as she is, exactly as she is. This is the expression I'll miss the most.

I ate them first, then washed them down with the tomatoes! I was going to wrap them in bacon and stuff them with chicken and cheese but... They didn't make it.

Forgot to post this. The girls spent a majority of their morning trying to pull this poor tree down. They weren't successful, but they did tear a few branches down... I ALMOST got all of the seniors in this shot. Half the herd is as close to almost as I've got in a while!

I just caught up on your journal. I am so sorry about Maya. I have 2 old seniors, Joe is 28 and Sparkles is 30. I dread the day......

Big hugs to you my friend. Our animals are a part of the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat. They are our heartbeat, our love, our life. How sad for those that don't "get it" for they will never know the joy and heartbreak of love in it's purest form.

Yes Sumi, you should get back to riding. It is good for your soul.

Can't wait to hear more about your horses, they are beautiful.

I caught this moment when Joe struck a pose while enjoying the new fenced in area! Joe is 28 years old.

I am sorry to have kept you waiting. Life has been keeping me busy.

Most of you I believe know my mustang mare Mama:

Not her most flattering pictures but ya'll already know how pretty she is. :)
I got Mama when I was 14, and she's a permanent member of my herd. She's retired now after an injury to a tendon two years ago. She's who I refer to as the love of my life. We've done many crazy things together and been all over the country together. You name it, we've done it. I love this mare! I miss riding her. I really do.

Back in the day we used to FLY! Mama and I were the inseperable duo. We jumped, we ran barrels, we did endurance, we ran around the country like two peas in a pod. She had her days though. Her days where she wanted to kill me. Her days when the world was out to get her. It never stopped me from loving her.

Then my other horse I guess I haven't spoken much of, is Java. Java is a retired thoroughbred who won a pretty penny on the race track then got dumped out when he blew out his shoulder.

He's good for light riding or the occasional trail but he's not sound for very long when you do ride him. Mostly he's just an expensive pasture pet.

I'm sure I have more pictures of him somewhere but he's John's horse so I don't coddle him. :hide

Here's one of me trying to get him tacked up so I could ride him. He's a monster.
