Been wanting to weigh some so why not?
They are from 2lbs 12oz to 3lbs 4oz. Boy they sure do jump up and do their little hunger protests, when I open the door. I checked the water they hardly drank any since going to fermented feed, must be the catfish
according to the chart, looks like these are around 4weeks old already. Dang I may have to push up my processing date before they eat me out of house and home.

A CX hen I processed along with the last group of WR and WR/BA roosters today. She was 7 mo. old. All of them were free ranged until recently when I penned them up to get them off the land and in close quarters for easy catching and processing.
The roosters were all about the same age as her and even more fat, which is unusual for roosters but I've found that's not a bit unusual for WR and WR mix roosters.

Fat is flavor if your a commerical grower. But for us do it yourself'ers, fat is more flavor. 9 month old CCX wow, 9 weeks old.is the recommended butchering age for CCX. Just goes to show that free range is the way to go.

I butcher mine around 90 days. I get 6-8 pound carcasses.

I've never went 12 to 13 weeks, I start feeling sorry for la stinko's about 9 to 10 weeks.

I usually take mine to 3 mo. of age, but this girl was an only bird, so I left her until I got around to killing the cockerels. She wasn't having any trouble getting around, though she couldn't get up on the roosts with the boys.

I like they are all plain white and not really feathered well. Less to pluck. And, some of my excess cockerels are so pretty, hard to do them in.

Decided on a Sunday evening weekly weigh in this week 4lbs 3 oz. I think if a guy were really bored he might could watch them grow. To bad I'm not that guy
