Cool on the migration! We have starlings that migrate over here and sometimes the whole sky will be BLACK with birds! It is incredible to see such huge flocks. The sound of hundreds of thousands of birds flapping makes quite a din! Wish I could see pictures.

The really cool thing about these birds is that they are soaring in large circles and are completely silent. The only noise is from the ravens that are disturbed by their presence and the freaked out chickens!

Well, I guess you're officially 50 when you get the mail and in it is an invitation to join AARP!

It's another VERY windy day here in the Morongo basin! Currently experiencing sustained winds of 30 mph with gusts to 55! NWS has issued a high wind advisory that expires at 10 pm. Thankfully tomorrow is forecast to be much calmer. It's very dangerous trying to drive down the hill to Palm Springs with high winds.

I was going to bake cookies yesterday, but before I could start J asked if we could have pancakes for dinner. That would be too much sweet for one day, so I postponed the cookies to today.

I modified my sugar cookie recipe by adding 2 Tbs of cinnamon and an extra 1/2 tsp of vanilla. Sort of a snickerdoodle, but not quite. J said he was bored with sugar cookies, so he got cinnamon-sugar cookies! And the house smells great!

hq13 - If I keep eating all these cookies and bread, there's no way I'll get blown away!

I just found a recipe for gluten free roll out cookies, sort of sugar cookies, LOL. I need to get some coconut flour and see how they turn out. The gluten free chocolate chip peanut butter cookies were interesting!
