CheerioLounge - Desert Dreamin'

the nu-stock is supposed to help them actually re-grow feahter/fur and is an antibacterial...dont know if it helps grow the feathers back but it did take the redness/dryness out and kept the other birds aay form our nekkid tushy hens.

im with your hubby on this one lol, i use alot of livestock products on me and the dogs and cats and visa versa...

I am definitely going to check out Nu-stock! Thanks Pinky!! ;)

How do you get the (crust? breading?) to stick on the chicken in the oven? I have a tough time keeping it on when I fry it, I can't imagine what mine would look like out of the oven
My crust falls apart too.
I put flour and seasonings in a plastic bag and drop each piece of chicken in one at a time and shake it around til well coated. I pat dry my chicken parts before I coat them. No milk or egg or anything fancy! It bears no resemblance to REAL fried chicken. I guess it's more like SS shake 'n bake!

Did you go with french fries, Cheerio?
Actually ended up going with fried rice to use up some leftover rice. I usually do potato wedges in the oven (kind of like I do the chicken) when I make french fries. Don't usually deep-fry anything.

So, whatcha make for dessert tonight, CL?
I discovered that I didn't have as much flour as I had thought, so I just made a batch of drop biscuits and we ate them with butter and cinnamon sugar.

Got the peas moved out side into their containers. I need to get more soil before I can put the cucs and tomatoes out. I want the tomatoes to get a little bigger before I move them out. I took pics, but I don't want to post until I have everything out there and growing! ;)

If you'll put all the spices in a cup of buttermilk and roll the chicken in it, then roll in plain flour...you'll get a nice even crust that sticks pretty well and tastes *almost* as good as REAL fried chicken. ;)

Now I gotta go find my cinn. sugar!:D That sounds good!

Fried rice sounds like it would be good too with chicken--not cinn. sugar. We do french fries a lot as dh wants them. That's why I have a cutter now!

I'll try that the next time. Thanks! I don't usually have buttermilk on hand, but I imagine whole milk would work.

Cinnamon-sugar is good on just about everything!! I prefer butter and cinnamon-sugar on my pancakes over syrup! :drool

We do fried rice on a pretty regular basis. It's great for using up leftovers to make a quick lunch.

Add a little lemon juice to your milk to clabber it. That's what I do when I have no buttermilk for a recipe. And though I want it I am not going to make pancakes for the cinn. sugar effect right now!

Lemon juice or vinegar will clabber whole milk. Whole milk itself will work too though. DD LOVES when I do chicken like that, especially when I put in LOTS of garlic and chives ;)

Found this posted over at Facebook while I was playing catch-up and instantly thought of you! :hugs Was going to use it as my avatar but I think it would be too small to read.
