Nice and cool here so I should be able to get quite a bit accomplished today.

Wasn't going to log in this early but am enjoying a second cup of coffee and saw snapshots good news and just had to sign in!

Good, productive day here!

The Bun Barn is just about complete...just need to insulate the ceiling and close in the north wall. We could have finished it today but our feet are wore out from dancing with rocks so we decided to be safe and call it a day.

Bubba J was the best supervisor and we couldn't have accomplished what we did without his help. He's pretty sure that we're building him the tallest dog house in the world...hope he's not too let down when the rabbits move in tomorrow!

I'll post some pix after we have dinner out of the way.

So...here's how our day went!

Bob came and picked up doc around 7:30 this morning to do the lumber run. Undoaded the truck, got tools and everything we'd be needing together and made the first saw cut at 9:20 a.m..

Framing the south wall:

I'm sure it's going to make his day when the rabbits get moved in...hopefully this afternoon!

Got everything we need for the new additions except hay. So far, every place we've gotten it from before north of us is out and won't be getting any until the first cutting this year. Have one place left to check before I break down and see if my sis has any left. We've got plenty of live green food stuffs growing here and I'll raid mom's yard on occassion. If I can't get any hay, I might try using some dried broomsedge grass.

Pinch, poke, prod...Nope, don't feel another year older today and I guess thats a good thing!

The rabbit project is complete and what a positive project it was...everything fell right into place, no major injuries (doc sustained a small cut on his finger from an oops! with the flashing) and the buns are home and seem happy.

Yesterday's "finish list" was short so we didn't get in a big hurry. We got the roof insulated:

Finished the north wall:

Got the blocks set and the cages set up.

After patting ourselves and each other on the back, we headed into town to get mineral licks and a roll-up blind for the south wall (to keep the weather out).

WalMart didn't have the blinds but we rescued two Phalaenopsis orchids for a buck a piece. Then we headed to Alco (kind of like the Dollar Store but bigger) and they had an entire wall of shelves stocked with the blinds we were looking for. They also had the reddish purple Creeping Phlox/Mountain Pinks that my mom has been looking for, so we picked her up a pot and doc went gaga over some Artemisia Silver Mound so we brought a small pot of that home.

Then it was off to get the rabbits! And here they are:

Number 1 is the sweetest, friendliest and smallest so she's my favorite already and had no problem getting nose to nose with Bubba, who is totally cool with them. Her ears are a bit scabbed up so I'll be treating them for ear mites here in a bit. I've got baby oil on hand and will start with that but pick up some Ivermectin when we get out later this afternoon.
