I was at the 4 H fair yesterday. And, as soon as I saw this, I thought of Pinky!

I got up this morning at just after 5:00. Did some house work and hung a load of laundry out, but since I knew I'd be late getting on the computer tonight, I actually got on for a bit. Had something to eat and went out to the farm. Got the horses and chickens fed. Did a bit of weeding, then drove over to the house. RU is away, so I had to let a couple of dogs out. Did a bit of pruning on a butterfly bush, then went to work.
Work was a tiring day. We were doing a lot of craft projects today. I pulled a bunch of mint out of my garden yesterday to take today, so I had to carry that in as well as the stuff I pruned off the bush as well as a cooler w/some stuff I needed for the day in it. Sometimes you can get butterfly bush to root by sticking a clipping in the water and since we talked yesterday about planting to encourage wild life, each kid got part of the clippings to try to get it to root at home. They also got a piece of mint which they planted in a flower pot. They also had a really messy craft involving sticks. That meant the nature center was a mess! It took me and one of the volunteers almost until 1:00 to get it all cleaned up!
I had my doctors' appointments today, so I only took a half hour lunch break so I could leave early. After lunch, I made a bunch of copies for tomorrow, then put on my bathing suit, a pair of nylon shorts and my water shoes. We're doing a stream walk w/the kids tomorrow, so I had to check out the stream for broken bottles and fish hooks. Tomorrow morning, I'll be collecting all the stuff tomorrow so we can show the kids B4 we do the stream walk. (We're talking about keeping waterways clean)
Left work at 3:30, got to the first doctor and sat and waited. Finally got done there, stopped at Wally World and they didn't have the book of logic puzzles I was looking for.
Went to a gas station that's between the 2 doctors and got some gas. Glad I got it there, it was 15 cents more expensive about 1 mile away! And, down the road, it was 28 cents more! 
Got done at my 2nd doctor, then went to Aldi's. I got milk for $1.99 a gallon and bagged salad for $0.25! Saved me money. I'll be taking the salad to work along w/some hard boiled eggs for lunches.
Finally made it to the farm, got everything taken care of there then came home. Fed the goats, the rabbits, got the laundry in, got the groceries in and was finally able to get a shower and relax! It was around 8:30 or so when I was finally able to get something to eat (leftovers) and sit down and relax. I have 2 more Tuesdays when it will be this long. Bad thing is, it will probably be dark by the time I get everything done in a month.

I was beat yesterday and wanted to just sit back and relax. First off, hubby was drunk and wouldn't shut up. Then, the internet wasn't working properly. I couldn't get on here nor could I do my crossword. This morning, I STILL couldn't get on here. 
Yesterday, the forecasters were soooo wrong! There was a chance of some late day thunderstorms, so I decided to take the bike. We were doing a stream walk as well as looking at what kind of macro invertebrates we could find in the stream. Right about when we decided to head out, it starts to rain lightly. So, we decided to do a quick stream walk first. Right when we were getting out of the stream, I saw a flash of light. Then, there was a loud crack of thunder! The kids went running back to the nature center. Can't say I blame them. But, we didn't get to do everything we wanted to. We had done some stuff inside first. If we had reversed the order, we would have gotten it all done.
I was going to go out in the canoe and check out the area we were planning on taking the kids. If it had just been rain, I would have gone out (I've canoed in the rain B4), but w/the chance of thunderstorms, I didn't want to take a chance. Plus, the nature center was a bit messy, so I spent the afternoon cleaning it up for today.
Today, we went out in the canoes and kayaks. Some of the kids had never been B4. Others said they had, but I really wondered about them. Some of them caught on right away, others, not that well. We did end up towing one group.
Tomorrow is the last day w/this group, and the last of the day camps. These kids are older. The minimum age is 10. And, even though this is the biggest group we've had all summer, I'm really going to miss some of these kids. There's AG. First day, she didn't want to be there. She hated nature, hated being outside, didn't even want to look out the window. I worked w/her a bit that day, and she started to get interested. Yesterday, she jumped right in the stream. Today, she caught on to the canoeing pretty quickly and was helping some of the other kids. When I told her how well she was doing, her whole face lit up. Such a difference. There's JS. He came for all 3 different camps. He's a quiet kid, but he's so in tune to everything that's going on. Plus, he's a fairly decent artist. And, that's just 2 of them. This is my favorite age to work with. For the most part, they don't act like little kids and most of them haven't gotten to the age where they think they know everything.
I did go out in the canoe this afternoon. It almost doesn't seem fair that I got paid to do so. But, I checked out part of the lake. We had planned on going there w/the kids. I'm so glad we didn't. They would not have made it thru! I got stuck a few times, and was only able to get out because I've been stuck B4. But, w/as dry as it is, the water level is way down. Some places, it's only about 3 inches deep! At least I was able to take a pic of something w/out getting blown all over the lake. And, I did pull some empty beer bottles out of the lake, so I wasn't just playing. I was working.

Great to hear about your experiences with the kids--I used to be a teacher and love working with kids, my faves are actually the slightly "mouthy" ones--I loved reaching them and getting them to do their best for me (and ultimately for themselves, as that is who learning benefits). Love that AG has changed her mind about the outdoors, getting outside and active is the best thing for every kid to experience
